A demonstration built around a real downlink

The balloon launched from Sulejówek during the 28th Science Picnic in Warsaw. The payload carried a DVB-S2 transmitter using 8PSK modulation, sending 720p video on 437.200 MHz. The team's summary gives the balloon burst altitude as approximately 37 km.

Behind the picture: receivers and decoding

Ground stations and decoders made the public demonstration possible. Radio amateurs and the dereksgc channel community took part in reception using tools including SatDump and dvb-s_gui_amsat. The film combines onboard imagery with screens illustrating the receiving process.

A shared effort

SP5POT and HAST, Tomasz SP5LOT and Robert SQ5RB, prepared the mission. Video contributors included Mikołaj Forytaż, Paweł SO5HIM and Bartek Janik. Decoding contributors included Aweeri, FelixTRG, Simplydooge, SławekPL, Piotr SP5MG and Tomasz SP5LOT. Robert SQ5RB, Tomasz SP8NCG and Łukasz SQ8GHY formed the chase team.
